Jeffrey Oxendine, MBA, MPH is Co-Director the California Future Health Workforce Commission. He co-leads design, planning and support of the commission’s work to develop an actionable statewide health master plan for California.
Jeff is also the Co-Faculty Director of the Undergraduate Public Health Major and Director of Workforce Development at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. He recently served as Associate Dean of Public Health Practice for 12 years and Executive Director of the Center for Public Health Practice and Leadership.
Jeff has been a health executive, educator, and consultant for 35 years. Prior to his role at Berkeley, Jeff was a senior executive for 20 years in leading hospitals and medical groups including Partners Healthcare System, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Bay Imaging Consultants, and Alta Bates Medical Center. He also taught for 5 years at Harvard School of Public Health.
Jeff’s passion is empowering students to discover and achieve their health career dreams and become the next generation of diverse health leaders and professionals. He has done this at UC Berkeley for 15 years and for 27 years as Founder and CEO of Health Career Connection, a national non-profit that empowers undergraduate students throughout California, New York, New England, North Carolina, Nashville and Washington DC (www.healthcareers.org).
Jeff is also a leader in advancing health workforce and diversity statewide and regionally. He co-directs the California Health Professions Consortium and California Health Workforce Alliance, statewide coalitions focused on increasing health workforce and diversity initiatives. He has been a consultant to the State of California and to foundations on workforce and diversity solutions. Jeff is a leader in the East Bay Health Workforce Partnership; an employer-led regional initiative to strengthen health workforce and economic opportunity in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.
